July 27-29, 2020 : XIII International Aroid Conference : Munich
First Circular and call for papers
The Munich herbaria and botanical garden, which are linked the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich (LMU), will be hosting the XIII International Aroid Conferencefrom Monday 27 to Wednesday 29 July 2020.
2020 is an important year for aroids, marking the century after the completion of Adolf Engler's treatment of the family in the ‘Pflanzenreich’, and it was during his years as a herbarium curator in Munich (1871-1878) that Engler's early work was carried out. The institutions jointly hosting the 2020 meeting are continuing the tradition of aroid studies, and the aroid collections of the Munich Botanical Garden and herbaria are renowned world-wide for their breadth of coverage.
Indication of interest and preliminary conference enquiries may be sent to or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Attendance fees will be kept low, there is an abundance of inexpensive accommodation throughout the city, and public transport is excellent, making it easy to explore Munich's dazzling lakes, such as the Ammersee, Tegernsee and Starnberger See, or reach the Alps one hour south of Munich.
